Iwokrama
is one of the four last pristine
tropical forest areas in the world. The
1400 square miles large reserve is home
to jaguars, cougars, and the largest
otters, eagles and caimans of the world.
Location:
central Guyana. The lodge with its
well-tended lawns and blockhouses
featuring typically Amerindian palm
roofs is situated on the upper course of
the Essequibo, offering superb views.
Facilities:
restaurant,
shop, canoes, canopy walkway through the
tree tops.
Rooms:
2 - 6 beds, shower (no hot water),
toilet, terrace with hammocks.
Food:
breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruit
lemonades.

night package:
1st
day: Fly Inn from Georgetown to Anai
and 2 hours jeep tour through the jungle into the very heart
of Guyana. After dinner, a
caiman safari by boat.
2nd
day: in the morning, boat trip to
Stanley Lake (home to giant otters,
giant turtles and caimans); afternoon:
trip through jaguar territory – no
promises, but many were lucky and saw
one. After that you’ll be able to
explore the canopy of the jungle on a
canopy walkway.
3rd
day: if there’s
enough time, boat trip to Amerindian
village of Fair View with 5000 year-old
rock engravings, return trip to
Georgetown.
