A
river expedition in the style of the
great explorers of past centuries. You're
accompanied by a large retinue: a boat
team, knowledgeable guides, a cook and
helping hands who set up your camp each
day, hunt and fish for you, prepare food
and pamper you. During the day you
explore the wilderness by motorized
canoe. At night you sleep in jungle
camps on the river bank, in mosquito net
boxes with hammocks under rain shelter
roofs.
1st
day:
flight from Georgetown to Lethem, jeep
ride to Dadanawa
Ranch.
2nd
day: watch the vaqueros at work and
go for a ride along Rupununi River.
3rd
day: trip downstream Rupununi River
to Wapishana village of Sand Creek.
4th
day: 2nd stretch along the river to
Crabwood Creek at the foot of Kanaku
Mountains.
5th
day: further along Rupununi to
Mapari (a tributary), where there’s a
good chance of spotting caimans, tapirs,
capybaras, Giant otters and jaguars.
Camp by a waterfall.
6th
+ 7th day: reptile and fish watching
in crystal clear Mapari river water
which comes from the Kanuku Mountains.
You’ll be able to explore the river
banks which are home to Harpy eagles,
monkeys and lots of other exotic birds
and animals.
8th
day: trip along the river to Karanambu.
Return flight to Georgetown.
