Antigua: Star of white beaches
A twinkling star reflecting in the turquoise blue sea: Antigua’s coastline glistens brightly, with deeply cut bays seamed by more than 350 dazzling white beaches. An almost uninterrupted coral reef around the island smoothes the waves and offers beautiful dive sites. The two-hundred-year-old Nelson’s Dockyards attest to the fact that this was once the fleet base of the British Empire in the West Indies. Today restaurants and laid-back pubs have conquered these fortifications now restored true to the original.

Each year yachts from all over the world come together off the island’s coast to compete for the Rolex Trophy, one of the most prestigious regattas worldwide. And the select range of elegant hotels catering to high demands makes Antigua the superstar among the Caribbean holiday paradises.

Barbados: holiday island with everything that goes with it
Trendy bars and a modern skyline: Barbados’s busy south and west coast resembles a modern city, except that it expands into wonderful beaches of dazzling white at the edges. Its restaurants and bars are definitely on a par with those in London’s city centre. In between hotel resorts, densely built apartment blocks with second residences of wealthy Britons crowd the water fronts. An ideal place for relaxing under a sun shade on the beach, watching people, and going out for dinner to one of the hip restaurants before plunging into the bustling nightlife. Out of all of the Lesser Antilles islands, Barbados has the most developed tourism infrastructure with everything that goes with it. If you love peace and quiet and the unadulterated Caribbean feeling: the east coast offers a number of pristine beaches on the Atlantic.

Dominica: The Caribbean nature paradise
The island of the Carib Indians, wild and untouched. Steep shores and narrow gorges protected the indigenous people from European invaders. The Caribs still own their own territory in northeast Dominica. The dense jungle hides dramatic waterfalls and mysterious phenomena, like a boiling lake. And beyond the coasts lies an undisturbed underwater paradise bursting with colorful life.
Situated between the two European islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, the wild and pristine Dominica draws a contrast that couldn’t be more striking. A totally different world.
Grenadines: Caribbean out of the picture book
Tiny islands with white beaches and swaying palm trees. Lined up between Grenada and St. Vincentlike pearls on a neckless. Set in the turquoise sea.

Carriacou is the most original island of the Grenadines: Caribbean the way it was 20 years ago with beautiful picture book beaches. and a  charming island capital. Grenada's small sister island with its many reefs and offshore isles is  a paradise for diving and snorkeling.

Union Island is the center of the Grenadines and starting point for boat trips to the famous Tobago Cays: with turquoise water and coral-lined bays. The tiny island capital Clifton is a meeting place for yachties from all over the world.

Bequia is the most joyful island in the Grenadines: long white beaches and colourful restaurants and bars with cheerful people dancing barefoot in the sand. The inhabitants origin from all parts of the world. The main village, Port Elisabeth, is located on the picturesque Admirality Bay.

Palm Island is one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean, as it is known from photographs: With alabaster white sand beaches, palm trees, a variety of wildlife and surrounded by crystal clear water. The whole island is a private luxury resort.

Canouan is and island of exclusive of exclusive holiday resorts enclosed ba a coral reaf like an atol. Inside the natural bareer extends a lagoon with cristal clear water and white beaches.

Cruising the Grenadinen by yacht is like staying in a villa, which - like magic - relocates itself everyday to a different dreamlike place: a romantic palm beach yesterday, a reef with crystal clear water today, and a bay with colourful bars tomorrow. In between at most 3 to 4 hours of smooth gliding over turquoise waters – driven by mild trade winds. Yacht cruising is the most beautiful way to enjoy the paradise islands of the Grenadines while being spoilt to the toe by an experienced crew ...

Guadeloupe:colorful archipelago
A diverse Caribbean universe: more than a dozen isles, each a world of its own, like satellites orbiting the double suns that are Grande Terre and Basse Terre. These two islands make up the "mainland" of Guadeloupe, two butterfly wings, divided only by a narrow channel, but completely unlike one another. In the east, on Grande Terre, sugar plantations dominate the flat terrain. Mountainous Basse Terre in the west plunges from the 1500m high peak of the Soufriere volcano down to the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea below: blanketed in dense rainforest, it has gorgeous golden beaches in the north, and natural wonders in the south, like the sea-bed hot springs in the Jacques Cousteau diving area.

Guyana:safari to go with Caribbean islands
Garden Eden and paradise located side by side:
Guyana is the continuation of the Caribbean chain of islands onto the South American continent. This country with its pristine tropical forests, jaguars hunting tapirs and monkeys, and its countless rivers inhabited by giant otters, caimans and anacondas, culturally and economically forms part of the Caribbean. That’s how it was thousands of years ago when Arawak and Carib Indians set out to populate the northern islands with their one-log canoes, and that’s how it still is today. Guyana’s official language is English, the radios here play reggae music, the most popular beer is the ‘Carib’, and the capital Georgetown with its Victorian timber palaces and churches is considered the Garden City of the Caribbean.

However, Guyana is a different world:
It’s the size of Great Britain but populated by a mere 750,000 people. Most of them are of Indian, African or European descent and live on the narrow costal strip. The interior of the country belongs to the Amerindians: Carib, Arawak, Makushi, Wapi-shana, and Waiwai self-governed tribal areas with their people hunting, fishing and farming – just as they always did. Four fifths of the country is covered by tropical forest. The vast savannah stretches across the south west. Golden sandy beaches line the streams and rivers, the gold and diamonds in their beds colouring the water a shade of honey or amber. Kaieteur Falls, the world’s highest water falls, gush down a drop of 700 feet from Pakaraima Mountains – this remote place can only be reached by plane or on foot.
Travel-information Guyana

Good flight connections are available from Grenada, Tobago, Trinidad and Barbados to Guyana several times a day with LIAT, BWIA or Caribbean Star. Leave the beach chair behind for a couple of days and go on an expedition! You’ll be picked up at the airport and taken to a lodge of your choice by jeep and boat. Places that are very remote can be accessed by plane. Of course you can also combine different lodges and resorts, or you might fancy one of the adventure packages, e.g. "Guyana Highlights" or the "Private safari accross Guyana". Your travel agency will tell you all about the options you have with your stay in the Caribbean.

The best time for travelling
if you want to go on a safari in Guyana is January to April and September to November. May to mid-July is the rain period. Large areas of the savannah in the south west are flooded and not accessible for vehicles before the end of August. The best chance of spotting jaguars is in the mating season in May.

Travelling Inland: once you leave the densely populated coastal strip, there’s a better-type gravel road leading inland up to Lethem, otherwise only tracks and waterways. Rivers are crossed by ferry or pontoon brides. Your drivers know their way around and will take you to your lodge safely.

Inland flights: small-sized airliners fly from Georgetown to Lethem on a daily basis and stop over in Anai or Karanambu on request. Charter flights to Kaieteur Falls are offered once or twice a week. Starting points: Georgetown, Baganara and Shanklands.
Martinique:island of elegance
The queen of the Caribbean islands:
As exotic and tropical as her sisters– lined by fantastic beaches and nestled in the turquoise blue sea. Of all of the islands though, this is the most majestic. Distinguished manor houses in well-groomed plantations evoke the splendors of the past, boulevards lined with king palms and blooming trees do justice to the island’s Indian name, “Madinina” – the Island of Flowers. Old rum distilleries and the finest of restaurants lure the gourmets. Here, the past comes alive as it can nowhere else – with the old customs, bright traditional costumes, and the Creole way of life: refined and tended for centuries, undisturbed by radical changes
Saint Lucia:The island that never sleeps
Non-stop Caribbean. in the daytime, Saint Lucia’s all easy going: people bathing on palm-framed beaches, wandering around exotic fishing villages, hiking or jungle biking in dense tropical forests, or snorkelling and diving among colourful coral reefs. An idyllic place of tranquillity and tropical nature. In the evening, though, Rodney Bay awakens to a bustling nightlife: you’ll find more than 40 bars, restaurants and nightclubs along the trendy mile in the tourist centre. Even in some of the fishing villages people party right until the first rays of sun dip the majestic Pitons in pink light. They’re two volcanic plugs jutting out of the sea, almost 800 meters in height, which used to be worshipped as gods by the Carib Indians. A new, happy day in paradise is about to begin…

St. Vincent: wonderfuly wild
Wild and pristine: St. Vincent is home to the Black Caribs. The origins of this mysterious tribe are obscure. A ship carrying slaves from Africa is said to have shipwrecked on the island’s reefs, and the blacks to have mixed with the native Carib Indians. Even today they keep up their traditions, and mainly live of fishing along the coastline. Much of the heartland is still covered with tropical forest reaching right up to the volcano summits. Small wonder then that Hollywood’s film-makers chose one of St. Vincent’s hidden bays as the main film location of “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The scenery of “Port Royal” can be admired in Walilabou Bay, just as Johnny Depp left it…

Tobago: Island of Robinson Crusoe
The island of Robinson Crusoe: an exotic picture book paradise. Palm trees, laden with coconuts bow to the waves gently lapping on the shore. Huge butterflies and tiny hummingbirds flit colorfully through the rainforest which covers the interior of the island. Large numbers of fish of every color and size inhabits the waters and extensive reefs along the coast. Life in the small fishing villages and the sleepy capital follows a soothing rhythm. The tourism mainly congregates in the south-west of the island in Crown Point, where nice bars and restaurants offer entertainment. Every Sunday night all hell breaks loose in the little place of Buccoo, „The Sunday School", a hot party for locals and visitors alike.

Travel Information Trinidad & Tobago

Climate: Warm and rather dry between January and May, wet between June and December. Trinidad has the tropical climate with more precipitation. Throughout the year the temperature is between 77 and 91 degree Fahrenheit.

Hazards / diseases: Special vaccinations are not required for Trinidad & Tobago and usually not necessary. It is sufficient to get the usual protection (tetanus, etc.). When traveling in rural areas a vaccination against hepatitis A should be considered. Mosquitoes and sand flies can be annoying, it is best to protect yourself with one of the insect repellent agent, which is available for purchase everywhere on the islands.

Medical care: There are good doctors, clinics / hospitals in Tobago and Trinidad. Recommended in any case are: a travel health and repatriation insurance in case of serious illnesses.

It is advisable to bring U.S. dollars, as these are widely accepted and exchanged. VISA and MasterCard are accepted in general too. There are also ATM machines available, which can be used with the card and a pin-code.

Shopping: The prices in the supermarkets and restaurants are about the same as in tourist centers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The supply of food and beverages is plentiful; almost everything else is also available.

Trinidad: nature paradise with an exotic population mix
An island of contrasts: Pulsating life, exotic cultures, overpowering nature. You discover romantic wild shores, mountain ranges with dense, impenetrable virgin forest and rushing waterfalls, mangrove swamps where beautiful red scarlet Ibis live, and in the south, the only asphalt lake in the world. The flora and fauna of South America and the Caribbean are concentrated in the tightest of space. 430 types of birds, 620 types of butterflies, 700 different types of orchids, 100 types of mammals and 70 types of reptiles. At the same time Trinidad has economic centres with a very chequered population. You will find Hindu Temples, Monasteries and Mosques. In the capital Port of Spain the bustle of oriental business activities and Caribbean flair mix into a cocktail that - at the carnival - explodes into a unique firework.

Grenada: unexplored spice island of the Caribbean
White palm beaches, the turquoise ocean and miles of untouched nature. Thanks to the fact that mass tourism never touched the most southern island of the West Indies, the charms of the unexplored exotic paradise have been preserved. Secluded bays line the coasts. Inland, extinct volcanoes rise up to 900 meters, covered with wild jungle and old spice plantations. The friendliness of the Grenadians makes it easy and enjoyable to explore the beautiful spice island by yourself - and there is much to explore: several crater lakes, numerous waterfalls and hot springs, the national parks with their trails through the jungle, the marine parks along the shores, and of course the picturesque capital St. George’s, one of the most beautiful towns of the West Indies ...

Saint Martin: Shopper's paradise and the world of entertainment
One island, two cultures: St. Martin is only 12 km in width and 8 km long, but its 88 square kilometers are shared by two independent nations.  French Saint Martin, which is part of the EU and uses the euro as its currency, comprises the northern part, while Dutch Sint Maarten, a self-governing territory of the Netherlands royal dynasty, uses the Antilles guilder and covers the south. There’s no real border, but the two halves still differ. The French part is dominated by savoir vivre and elegant restaurants, posh hotels, grand cafés and a lively nightlife, while the Dutch part is a duty-free shopper’s paradise offering everything under the sun from international designer fashion to the latest developments in electronics. All this is held together by an outer ring of fine, white sandy beaches…
