This lodge is the home of Diane McTurks, who enjoys international fame as a protector of giant otters. Several packs of these rare animals live in the close-by stretch of Rupununi river. And so do enormous caimans and capybaras – which are pig-sized rodents.
The main house and 4 Amerindian-style guest huts nestle between old mango trees just up from the golden beach on the river.

Location:In the southwestern savannah on the Rupununi River, 3 hours drive from Lethem, 1 hour flight from Georgetown.
Hotel facilities:Included meals: Breakfast in Residence Inn;  breakfast, lunch, dinner and fruit lemonades in Karanambu Lodge.

Fly-in 3 night package includes:

1st day: night/breakfast in Residence Inn in Georgetown.

2nd day: flight to the lodge, crossing the rainforest and savannah. Late afternoon: Boat safari on Rupununi River to watch giant otters, caimans and capybaras.

3rd day: morning: boat safari to the honey ponds with their huge Amazon water lilies; evening: Boat expedition to a tributary stream featuring monkeys and many water birds.

4th day: morning: At your disposal, return flight to Georgetown. All transfers.
